Hello everyone,

For our construction project (greater Stuttgart area, Baden-Württemberg), our builder said that we have a 99% chance of needing a "black tank" waterproofing system (i.e., protection according to DIN 18195 part 6). They are also charging a corresponding additional cost for this.

1. Question: Is this correct? Is this type of waterproofing commonly required in Baden-Württemberg?

Now there is the new standard DIN 18533 W2.1-E. From what I understand, it addresses the same issue.

2. Question: Is it comparable, meaning can the additional cost mentioned above be directly replaced by applying the new standard? Or would the new standard be more cost-effective for homeowners?

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Jochen

Cool, that’s what the construction company says? And I thought the geologist said that! PS: For pressurized water, a waterproof concrete structure (sometimes called a "white tank") would be necessary.
