I am currently working on building my terrace. The terrace will be laid on a mortar bed. The terrace slabs end 1cm (0.4 inches) below the house foundation. Since the house is timber frame construction, I would like to additionally protect the foundation area to prevent moisture from rising.
I have asked several sources and was always told that I don’t need to do anything because the terrace is still below the foundation level and slopes away from the house. Only if the terrace were higher and ended at the plaster would I need to take specific waterproofing measures.
What is your opinion on this?
Best regards,
Micha

What does it look like under the gravel strip on your side?

How does this type of facade waterproofing work in cases where the terrace would end higher than the plaster?
