ᐅ Sealing a slab foundation with Katja Sprint?

Hello everyone,

The foundation slab is finished, and the Katja Sprint installation is coming up.

We don’t have Hauff connection funnels but conventional 100mm (4 inch) PVC pipes embedded in the foundation slab.

What is the best way to install the Katja Sprint around these pipes? And how should we best seal the pipes afterward? Should we seal the pipes first and then place the Sprint on top?

What is the best method for this? Are there ready-made solutions available, or do you have to come up with a creative approach?

Thanks a lot for your help

Is there maybe a liquid option? Can it be glued? I find this cutting and fitting of the connection strips quite inconvenient.

Today I had the idea to seal the areas around the basement pipes with bitumen. This would be easier to handle because the pipes only stick out a short distance. The waterproofing membrane (Katja) can then be laid flush and overlapping on top.

I’m aware that this area would then be diffusion-tight instead of diffusion-open like the rest of the floor slab area with the Katja Sprint.

Could this cause any problems? Is it possible and advisable to do it this way?

If yes, which material should be used? Bitumen coating or bitumen slurry?

Thank you very much
