Hello everyone,

Above the upper floor, we have a concrete ceiling with an attic space above it, which we would like to use for storage. We are now looking for a simple and affordable way to seal the concrete ceiling, mainly to reduce the dust up there.

What would you recommend?

(Preferably doable as a DIY project, otherwise we will hire someone)

Attic with insulation on rafters, skylight, and toolbox.

Sweep up the loose dust and then apply a primer once or twice; that should be sufficient.

In a storage room, there isn’t much floor stress that would cause the surface to break down or come apart again.

Otherwise, the cheapest PVC flooring available online starts at 2.99€/m² (depending on offers from stores like Roller, Poco, and similar). This way, you have a durable solution and can clean it properly when needed.

I think a floating floor covering is excessive; the recommendation to use a primer is already a good step. This also helps to some extent in preventing additional dust from being released, right?

And don't forget to install the vapor barrier as well...

Haha. Yes, thanks. The drywall contractor will take care of that the next time he’s here.
