in our house, the concrete ceiling in the living room is additionally covered with a drywall ceiling to allow for indirect lighting.
My wife always wanted the gap between the ceiling and the kitchen to be closed.
Can I also screw the casing/drywall panel directly onto the drywall ceiling itself? The reason is that the kitchen might need to be replaced at some point, and this way I wouldn’t necessarily have to damage it (if I screwed it directly onto the kitchen).
The idea was to screw some kind of metal L brackets to the ceiling, attach wooden battens crosswise to them, then simply fix drywall panels on top, finish with joint compound and paint. I would leave about a 1cm (0.4 inches) shadow gap along the kitchen itself.
