ᐅ Screed too low. Are there standards or regulations for this?

Hello,

I am currently having a disagreement with my screed installer. I have installed vinyl flooring throughout my entire house. Now I have noticed that the door threshold at the main entrance is much too high, as well as those at the patio doors. Additionally, the interior doors are supposed to be installed now, but they do not fit. The trims do not cover the lintel above the doors. The screed installer is saying that he assumed tiles would be laid in the house, and that’s why he kept the screed level so low. Are there any standards or regulations regarding this? Thanks

One should distinguish between technical questions and the execution:

- What does the design specify regarding the floor structure (from the raw ceiling or base slab up to the top edge of the finished floor)?
- How is the execution carried out? What can you verify, and what do you not know?

And the legal aspects:

Who planned the project? Who contracted the screed installer? What does the contract state? With whom do you have which agreement?

So... I did some research... according to DIN standards, the height of the threshold must not exceed 25mm (1 inch), measured from the finished floor level without flooring to the top edge of the door threshold...

However, this does not clarify who is responsible for the error.

'Blame' is the absence of communication – that’s what I would take legal action against 😉

non-existent communication

The root cause is likely poor planning. If there is no planning at all, the respective tradesperson should, however, ask for clarification.
