Skorpi-Haus14 Jun 2020 13:32We are building (or having built) our dream house and have had a crazy problem for a few days now.
The exterior of the house is already plastered and painted.
All the windows are installed.
The roller shutter boxes are still empty.
All interior walls are plastered.
Screed has been laid over the underfloor heating.
We are currently in the heating-up phase and ventilating a lot.
For about five days now, we have noticed tiny black flies about 1-2 mm (0.04-0.08 inches) in size inside, around all the windows—in huge numbers!
If you wipe them away with a cloth, they seem to be gone… or so you think.
But as soon as the windows are closed, after a few minutes the number builds up again.
This happens on both the ground and upper floors.
We have read a lot online about larvae in flowerpots and fruit and so on, but none of that applies here.
Since we are still building, there are no plants, fruit, or furniture inside the house yet.
We are at a loss on how to get rid of these pests.
Has anyone experienced this problem before?
Does anyone have any ideas?
Could this be related to the current weather—humid, warm, with thunderstorms?
Or nearby meadows and forest?
We would appreciate any advice!
Best regards

Skorpi-Haus14 Jun 2020 13:53Uhm..... we now live in a small town on the outskirts, then there is one more house and a lot of open fields, and we have never had this problem before????
What do you mean by "nature" – is that supposed to be the standard now???? oops:
That would be really unpleasant... that many insects and still living inside... well, great.....
Thanks for the tip – we will give it a try.
Question – what kind of tiny flies are those???

Try taking a photo, ideally a macro shot. Fruit flies (2–3mm (0.08–0.12 inches)) are good fliers, and you can clearly see their wings. There might be some fruit fermenting in an open spot somewhere. Remove the fruit, and the flies will disappear.
