we bought a plot of land with an old but very nice shed. Dimensions are approximately 12 m x 4.50 m (39 ft x 15 ft).
The roof has partially collapsed. Since the roof is covered with some fiber cement panels, we obviously want to have them removed and properly disposed of. Then the structure will have no roof, so how can we at least protect it reasonably well from the weather?
The problem: due to the size of the shed and the fact that it is built on the property boundary, we are not sure if we can keep it standing completely, since we want to build our garage on the boundary and the allowable meterage is already fully used.
Still, we want to keep it for now and only remove or shorten it if absolutely necessary.
A surveyor mentioned that if it was built under the old regulations at that time, it might have a right of continuation (existing use rights) and could remain. Or something like that.
I hope you can help me.
