Hello. This morning, a Samsung ad on Instagram really caught my attention… it was about an air-to-water heat pump, whose outdoor unit can also operate genuine split air conditioning indoor units. So, it’s truly an air conditioning system and not just a largely ineffective floor cooling system. It’s called Samsung TDM or EHS, but I haven’t found any detailed information yet through quick mobile searches.
Does anyone know this system? It sounds like a great solution if you want both anyway.

It is comparable to cars and trucks. Of course, you can use both for shopping or going on vacation.
In the end, it is more efficient to have both and use the one that best suits the specific tasks.
The Samsung TDM units are basically just two devices "stacked" together. However, with heating and cooling, you end up paying for the same capacity. With two separate units, you can adjust the output more precisely according to your needs. If you think about it simply, the energy required for cooling is roughly the same as for heating... but usually, you heat the entire house while you don’t cool everything entirely.
If you plan to cool the whole house, then feel free...

No, Samsung offers a classic split air-to-water heat pump with an indoor unit and an integrated hot water storage tank, which then operates with underfloor heating, as is generally known.
Additionally, a bypass with a switching valve is installed within the split system piping. This functions like a switching valve between cooling and hot water production, rather than the usual switching between heating and hot water generation. The key difference is that this is integrated into the refrigerant circuit instead of the supply and return pipes. I can’t provide more details, as it might be considered promotional.

Exactly, this is called multisplit and is a well-established system. The BS boxes are generally always used to expand systems as needed (up to the maximum load). This is also true for the ones from Samsung. But finally, someone realized that what refrigeration technicians have always done can also be offered to homeowners, as it might be another way to generate some profit.
