Hello,
I bought a condominium last year that is currently under construction through a developer, and in a few weeks I have the selection appointment. The apartment will be rented out initially.
Attached is the bathroom layout. According to the building specifications, I can choose tiles up to 60 € including VAT (about $65) and roughly 60% of the bathroom wall area may be tiled. Otherwise, I would need to pay an additional fee. However, I’m not sure about the tile size, how high they should be installed, or the tile pattern to use. I would appreciate any advice. Unfortunately, the tile showrooms are all currently closed, so I can’t get any inspiration there.

At the moment, I’m considering dark floor tiles and light (cream/beige) ceramic wall tiles, sized either 30 x 60 cm (12 x 24 inches) or 30 x 90 cm (12 x 36 inches). The tiled area should be about 1.20 m high (4 feet), but the long left wall (4.12 m / 13.5 feet) only needs tiling up to the baseboard height. The shower area should, of course, be tiled up to the ceiling. For the area with the washing machine and dryer, I’m unsure whether it makes sense to tile all the way up. What do you think?

What tile size would you recommend for the walls in this narrow room? Half-bond (staggered) pattern? Third-bond pattern?
What size would be best for the floor tiles? Would it make more sense to lay rectangular floor tiles crosswise in this case, or should they always be aligned parallel to the wall tiles?
The hallway and storage room will also be tiled. Is there anything important I should consider for these areas?

Thanks in advance.
I hope it’s okay to share a plan section here. There is no information about the creator within the plan section.

Regards,
Robert

Then one of us, contrary to our self-assessment, must not be familiar with average people. :P

The Emil Ceramica Tracce Taupe tiles in 60x60cm (24x24 inches) are actually quite affordable. They cost only €33 per m² (about $33 per 10.8 sq ft) online. According to my building specifications, I am allowed to use tiles up to a maximum of €50 per m² (about $50 per 10.8 sq ft) of my choice.
One more question: Would you use the Taupe tiles on both the floor and the walls, or Taupe on the floor and the same tiles in Ivory on the walls? Do the colors go well together?

I would stick to the same color group. We have the taupe in both bathrooms, and it looks different in each. In one, it appears more beige, while in the other it has a more grayish tone. This is probably due to the different lighting, but we really started to doubt ourselves.

I think there is already enough variation in the tiles, so I wouldn’t work with different colors as well. Personally, I would even keep the same size. For the past year, we have had wall and floor tiles measuring 60cm x 60cm (24 inches x 24 inches), and we might even use the same tiles again in the house because we like them. The baseboards were cut from the tiles, everything looks neat.

Which tiles did you end up choosing, @Forsberg21?

During the selection process, none of the tiles really appealed to me. So I went to a tile store and picked some out myself. Since the bathroom is quite long and narrow, I chose light gray floor tiles, with the end wall in the shower area also covered in the same tiles. The wall tiles are a matching shade of white. It all happened quite quickly, but I hope I made the right choice. The hallway and the kitchen area will also have the same floor tiles as the bathroom. All walls will be tiled halfway up, except for the shower area, which will be tiled up to the ceiling.
