Hello everyone,
Attached are some photos of my fireplace on the upper floor and the pantry through which the fireplace passes.
Can anyone tell me what might be causing the salt deposits and how I can best address them?
The upper floor is unfinished, and the white plastered fireplace is in the pantry below. The white paint is already bubbling.
The house was built in 1978.
Thank you very much

Hello, what does the chimney look like above the roof?
In my case, it was built with facing bricks, meaning there were prefabricated sections, and in the attic it looked similar to the 4th picture, but it was damp and that was easy to fix: formwork, lead flashing, breathable membrane, slate, zinc cover – at least that was how it was for me. But if that’s not moisture inside the chimney, then I’m also stumped, although it at least looks like there was moisture in there before.
Best regards, abo68
