Hello dear forum community,

I am probably still at a very early stage of my project. Well, at least the building plot is already secured.
At the moment, I am trying to design a floor plan that I could be happy with.
The house is planned as a single-family home including a double garage and an upstairs granny flat.
Optionally, it should be possible to convert the single-family home into two separate apartments without major structural changes, in case we decide to rent it out.
I would simply ask you to take a look and give me all the feedback you have—anything you don’t like or that I could improve.
Usually, you only build once in your life, so it should definitely be right.

I am grateful for every reaction from you.

Best regards,
Sebastian

Here is an alternative layout for the upper floor.

And one more.. I’m really struggling with the upper floor. Personally, I think the rest turned out quite well. But I’m still open to ANY suggestions.

Have you ever thought about how dark it is right outside your front door? I also think your windows are too small. The 18m² (194ft²) children's room has, at most, a 1m (3.3ft) wide window, right? It must be dark in there all day. Having a door to the kitchen and right next to it a door to the living room seems somewhat pointless; one door or a double door would be enough.

Best regards

Hello Curly,

Thank you for your post. Yes, the windows and doors are not yet ideal. I kept moving them back and forth during the planning phase because my main focus was on the layout of the living space.
Of course, I will correct this in due course.

Is there a reason why the sunny side a) is built with a garage/granny flat and b) has no windows? In winter, the sun doesn’t reach around the house, so it will be difficult months relying on artificial light.
