Hello,
I built a new house this year and installed a Vaillant Arotherm air source heat pump with Unitower, 11 kW. The entire house has underfloor heating, and each room is equipped with a Busch Jäger room thermostat with a rotary knob. My question is how exactly should the room thermostats be set, and how does the setting on the rotary knob relate to the temperature set on the Unitower?
Thanks in advance for the helpful information :-)

Nafets44413 Nov 2018 15:25That’s exactly what I mean: if I set the Unitower to 19°C (66°F) and turn a thermostat to level 4 or 5, it can never reach that temperature, so the valve never closes and the power keeps running indefinitely because the heating remains active?
Well, since no energy is actually entering the house, you’re not really consuming anything. Only the maximum of 20 euros per year for the radiator valve actuators at the heating manifold, and if the heating runs continuously, you just pay around 15 euros for the electricity for the valves. So it’s not that significant.
You have a small misconception.
You think you can control something with the thermostats in the rooms. That’s not the case; they are more like wall decorations and emergency stops, provided that the heating system is properly sized and optimally adjusted.

Nafets44413 Nov 2018 16:01Can’t I just control each room individually using the thermostats? Apparently, I really have a misunderstanding. I thought that if I set the thermostat to 4 in the dining room, I would get about 20°C (68°F). And in the bedrooms, I would just set it to 2 or 3 to reach around 15 or 16°C (59 or 61°F). Isn’t that how it works?

Nafets44413 Nov 2018 16:55I want to know how I can set the temperature via the thermostats so that I have different temperatures in the various rooms. Bedrooms should naturally be cooler than the bathroom and living areas...
