Hello everyone, first of all, let me briefly introduce myself:
My name is Daniel, and along with my two best friends, we are starting a company early next week that combines music production, event technology, and event management.
There is currently an opportunity that requires some remodeling and therefore your help.
In the basement of the house we live in, there is still a pool, which is operational but has never been used.
Since we are currently looking for a studio, we came up with the idea to convert the pool area into a studio.
The only unused room is the pool room.
We are thinking about a "room in room" concept, where we would build a structure of approximately 5 x 3.5 x 2.5 meters (16 x 11.5 x 8 feet) inside the emptied pool, with stairs leading to a roughly 3 square meter (32 square feet) "anteroom" in front of the studio.
Covering the pool would seem to us a waste of space, as we do not need such a large studio.
The space is sufficient and could be climate controlled using the already existing supply and exhaust air ducts in the ceiling of the room.
On top of this construction, there should be a sort of "chill area" where one can move around with a slightly crouched posture.
Our idea was to consult an interior designer and a carpenter to build and install the framework. All interior finishing work (insulation, carpet) we would handle ourselves.
For electrical installations, of course, we would also hire a professional.
Is this project even feasible? Does anyone have experience with similar projects?
Many thanks in advance for your advice.

I’ve now understood what you’re trying to do.
Unfortunately, it won’t work. You should make some sketches with actual measurements, etc.
Just the part with the screen... you’ll be sitting on top of the box and looking down at the screen, or you’ll only see the top half of it.
In short: it’s a bad idea.

Dadoo8203122 Oct 2016 22:07The photos make everything look small, but it’s important to remember that the roof level of the structure extends only about 70 cm (28 inches) above the pool. The room height up to the double ceiling measures 2.70 m (8 feet 10 inches) from the marble floor. In other words, there would still be 2 m (6 feet 7 inches) of headroom in the “first floor.” The stepped construction using Euro pallets is just an idea. However, you cannot assume that the field of view is limited here.

Exactly! But no one here wants to debate the purpose of this project; we just want to discuss whether it is feasible and possibly what the costs might be.
Thanks 🙂 Haha! So, if you already have ideas about red carpets that will be glued or stretched indoors, the box should at least be designed on paper. Sorry, from creative people, I expect more than just a dream cloud... how and from what materials do you plan to build your box?
Best regards

Of course, we are not structural engineers, but we had envisioned the structure as follows: six load-bearing columns with three crossbeams and two longitudinal beams on top. Since these will not be embedded in the foundation, the structural support will likely require these crossbeams at the base as well. Hopefully, someone else knows which type of wood to use.
The raised floor and ceiling could be made from solid plywood panels, with thinner panels for the walls. We were hoping to find advice here on how to create a secure and level base without having to remove all the tiles from the pool. The atmosphere should definitely convey "Yes, you are standing in a pool."
We need to set a budget for this project and thought you could help us with your experience regarding who exactly we should contact and what costs we should expect. This might seem unplanned and wasteful, but we are an ambitious team and want to distinguish ourselves from the competition in every way. We believe that if this project is feasible, it will certainly contribute to that.

I think a recording studio with a working pool would be pretty cool ;-)
I'm curious to see how much the project will cost. The music equipment was roughly listed above. The cabin is probably going to be more expensive than the music equipment, right? Sit down together and consider whether this is the right use of funds for a startup.
