ᐅ Room divider – single-sided or double-sided?

Hello everyone,

I’m currently considering how the room divider could be designed—whether it should be accessible from both sides or just one. I’m thinking of a height of about 1.40 m (4 ft 7 in).

On one side, the TV would be mounted, and on the other side, there would be a bench.

My thoughts:

I’m not sure why, but I feel that with the double-sided accessible option, when I’m watching TV, I might notice more movement in the background, which could be distracting, although it would feel more open.

With the single-sided option, I might have more possibilities for design.

Does anyone have experience with this or any opinions?

Thanks and regards!

PS: I also find the example photo interesting.

Shell construction: empty interior with exposed cables, large windows, and construction work.

We have an open room divider like this. It’s unfortunately not quite finished yet... One more row of shelves is still missing at the top, and the radiators (if you look closely, you can see them under the lowest shelf) will still be covered with slats... But maybe it’s helpful to you anyway...

It turned out nicely, but it has to look different for me... thanks anyway!!

Here it is a stylish, custom-made room divider; it looks great, just like your entire house. However, the original poster wants to use one side of the wall as a TV wall, so the back will be unattractive and, at least for me, the view through the room divider would be distracting. As just a room divider without that TV function, though, it’s excellent.

We have that kind of open room divider.

I think you would probably be the one I’d most like to visit in person, out of all the home builders here in the more than three years I’ve been part of this community.

@tumaa... Moving the TV to the other side is not an option??? That would be my immediate choice.. (with a room divider) The stove provides nice warmth from the side..

It could be done if necessary, but the view would be better the other way around.

Will you take me with you?
We can end the tour relaxing in the lovely garden.

@Steffi33: Do you have a thread here about your house build or floor plan somewhere?
