Hi,
maybe someone here can help us or provide reliable information:
We have lived since 2006 in a condominium built in 1996. Since the roof windows—especially in the bathroom—are quite worn out (partly affected by mold), we wanted to have them replaced. That’s why we visited our bank advisor last week about a loan from KfW for the renovation.
He told us that this program no longer exists, and only a program that requires an energy consultant/expert is available. Furthermore, he said that a score from the bank (huh, why... I thought I wanted the loan from KfW) rates you so high that the financing interest rates would be as high as a regular bank loan (so not the <2% of a KfW loan).
Today, I called KfW again, and they confirmed that there is indeed a program (152) for replacement, and that only if an energy consultant is involved does the interest rate stated on the website (between 1 and 2%) apply—so no surcharge.
That’s why I also called an energy consultant, who would initially charge 60 € (about 65 USD) for a visit and, if the renovation is carried out, would charge 2.5% of the total cost. However, this program can only be processed through KfW if the roof insulation is not worse than the roof window and if the roof window has a U-value of at least 1. There is also a limit for new roof windows dating from 1995—he wanted to check on this further.
Now I have a lot of information, but no one can really give me a clear answer.
Maybe someone here knows more about this. Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.
