Hello,

I noticed some chips on a few roof tiles (about 7 pieces), as shown in the photo.
I’m concerned that moss might grow faster there or water could penetrate more easily.
But maybe this is normal and such damage can occur during the installation?

Thanks everyone!

Yes, this happens during the roofing process, but it is not considered a defect. You could argue that the engobe is damaged as a result (which generally is not regarded as a defect either) and hope for goodwill from the general contractor/roofer to either paint over the areas with cold engobe or replace the tiles.

Thank you!
How can you tell that they are engobed? O.o

In the second picture, it is quite clear that the clay is coated.

But of course, I could be wrong.

If you take one out and turn it over, you can clearly see whether they are engobed.

I would have it replaced; if the bricks were black on the outside now, it would also be very noticeable visually.

Depending on the roof shape/height and position. Normally, replacing the tiles is not a problem and can be done in "a few minutes." The question remains why it isn’t done right away. There is always enough spare material available...
