Hello, we are building a bungalow with a gable roof at a 35-degree pitch. It will have a U-shaped layout.

Now the question is whether to choose a 50 cm (20 inches) or 60 cm (24 inches) roof overhang.

I tend to go for the 50 cm (20 inches) overhang, since our house is not very tall (6.3 m / 20.7 ft) and I think large roof overhangs make the house look smaller visually.

Has anyone faced the same question?

Does anyone have a photo of a 50 cm (20 inches) roof overhang?

My architect says it doesn’t really matter and is only a matter of appearance. The facade would be equally protected either way.

(I prefer a modern look)

Thanks to everyone.

Then definitely 50cm (20 inches). For facade protection, 0cm (0 inches) is sufficient. We have no roof overhang; it is purely for aesthetic purposes.

Between 50 and 60 cm (20 and 24 inches) you really can't see any difference anyway... 0 ... 50 ... 100 cm (0 ... 20 ... 40 inches) are the kind of steps worth seriously considering.

For 60 (starting from 50), the entire overhang is included in the built-up area.

Use 50!

Photo 50 ER without gutter, with it there is naturally more.

I think you could perform in a comedy show with the kind of non-critical questions you always come up with.

Go for 52.5 cm (21 inches), then you have a twelfth of 630 cm (248 inches).
