Hello house building community,

Today, during a conversation with a client, I noticed something.

Our windows are anthracite, and we want the window sills and roller shutters to match.

I read that the anthracite roller shutters are made of aluminum, unlike the standard ones, which are plastic.

Do you have any experience with aluminum roller shutters? Do they rattle in the wind or have other issues?

Or do they even offer advantages compared to plastic roller shutters?

Thank you very much

I have not seen something like this myself, but regardless of my assumption, a friend of mine has made the same claim. I don’t know if it corresponds to reality, but I can well imagine it. Fire is not loud.

Google doesn’t have any information about this either.
But fire is loud! For your project, you would need a blowtorch, which is not silent in the dark, plus it takes time.

I think this is more likely to be fiction.

MO?

A plastic roller shutter can easily be pulled out by a determined burglar. Is it more difficult with (stiffer) aluminum? Probably.

For colored windows, aluminum shutters are usually recommended because they retain their color better. Plastic roller shutters are also available in color, but strangely, the shade is somewhat different from the window frames. They also tend to fade more quickly.

Break-ins aside, from what I see, aluminum roller shutters generally have more advantages compared to plastic roller shutters.

Thank you all.
