Hello everyone,

We are currently wondering:

Should we install blinds or roller shutters on the floor-to-ceiling windows on the ground floor (patio exit, etc.)? In any case, they should be electric.

I honestly don’t see much added value in blinds, especially since I would even have to pay extra for them, which still doesn’t make sense to me.

Recently, we drove through two new housing developments, and really about 80% of the houses have blinds?? What do you think about this?

I just can’t believe it, but of course, this also raises the question: Are we thinking about this the wrong way? Are blinds maybe actually better?

Added value: You can control the appearance and the amount of light coming in. But otherwise, I don’t see any benefit, and I’m supposed to pay extra for that?

In my opinion, the disadvantages clearly outweigh the advantages...

Automating shutter panels works perfectly. I did this most recently at the beginning of the year... you simply use a standard KNX blind actuator, install the rod drive at the top of the reveal, and that’s it—a motorized shutter panel.

Exactly... If you want it to be smart, almost anything is possible.

However, if it’s that trendy concept of "just do some smart stuff"... then not much can be done...

Oh, any generic smart home system can do that. You can control the rod drive with any system that supports a roller shutter actuator... so basically any manufacturer...

That's right. It doesn't matter at all how the motor is controlled.

Yes, yes, you are right. I should have phrased it differently. The price is unbelievably high. These units alone already cost a lot, and with the motor and control system, you’re operating on a completely different scale...
