Hello,
we have exterior roller shutters that are operated from the inside.

The larger windows, which are 3 meters (10 feet) wide, make a lot of noise when the shutters are raised or lowered. For the 1-meter (3 feet) wide windows, the noise is much less noticeable. I looked inside one of the shutter boxes, and there isn’t much to it. According to the general contractor, it is insulated for thermal purposes, but I think the sound insulation is basically zero.

When I look at shutter boxes online, some of them seem to have an additional foam lining on the inside.

How is it for you? Can you hear the shutters inside the house, and how effective is the sound insulation of your shutter boxes?

So you mean the noises would be considered normal. The motors installed are from Jarolift, advertised as having an "extremely quiet planetary gear."

It's a bit annoying when you can hear the shutters throughout the whole house, especially with a toddler ;(

What do the inside of your roller shutter boxes look like?

If you notice that, your neighbors are too quiet ;-)
