@KlaRa: You are older and not very active on the Internet? 😉
Otherwise, you would know that "TE" has been a commonly used abbreviation for "Thread Starter" for years. Just like these modern abbreviations for vehicles, external insulation systems (WDVS) or heat pumps (WP), etc. These do not challenge imagination but are well-established and widely understood abbreviations commonly used in forums for years.

A simple note would have been enough. But to change my post without any comment is quite bold... Sorry, but this had to be said. Just because YOU don’t understand the abbreviation, this goes too far.

@nordanney:
That may be the case, as suggested here.
However, for me personally, it is more important to understand the technical connections rather than just knowing common abbreviations.
In most cases, this helped courts and technically inexperienced people to better identify the actual problems.
Being active on the internet does not necessarily mean receiving accurate information from it.

PS: I am not involved in any deletions or text modifications.
That would also not align with my personal beliefs!

However, for me it is more important—beyond knowing common abbreviations—to understand the technical context.
In most cases, this helped courts and technical laypersons to better identify the actual issues.Yep. But that doesn’t change the established abbreviation—you wouldn’t ask to spell out EIFS (external insulation and finish system), would you?Sorry, but abbreviations found in standards and regulations should be standard in the language of the technicians. Therefore, I would readily choose the abbreviation WDVS, as it appears in common regulations.
Example:
DIN EN 13495:2019-11
Thermal insulating materials for building applications – Determination of the tear strength of external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) (foam block method).
In contrast to TE, which could mean “dry unit” or other things in a more general context.

(This as my final note on the matter)
