Hello everyone,
we live in a condominium on one floor of a multi-family building that is 2 years old and built to KfW 55 standard.
For the warm summers, we would like to install a split air conditioning system in the bedroom for cooling only.
I have already read various opinions on whether this negatively affects the energy calculation and possibly the KfW funding.
Depending on the source, I have found the following versions:
a) Not at all, since it has nothing to do with the originally planned concept and is not relevant for heating the building, but rather just a comfort feature like a plug-in space heater.
b) Only with regard to the impact caused by the core drilling through the exterior wall.
c) Related to the operation with cooling/heating, although it is unclear to me which consumption values should be used here.
Can you help me with this? I couldn’t find clear information from KfW either.

Exactly, the KfW states that no changes to the house are allowed within 10 years No, that’s not correct.
Nothing may be done that would compromise the KfW 55 status or its requirements.

But nowhere is it described in more detail, for example whether/how a split air conditioner is taken into account in a calculation. That doesn’t need to be specified anywhere, because only a planner can answer that.
In most cases, if an air conditioner was not planned from the start, for example due to overheating protection, installing one afterwards usually does not affect anything. I actually don’t know anyone who has gone through a planner for this. At least not if the air conditioner was simply retrofitted.
So, I stick to my advice: go ahead.

I would simply suggest calling three energy consultants and asking them.
Maybe the issue is ultimately straightforward. I don’t think an air conditioner has a major impact.

I assume this question has already been answered. The drilling is the minor issue (20mm (0.8 inches)), the exterior appearance is usually the deal-breaker.For a typical split system, you already need 50mm (2 inches).Similar topics
