Hello everyone, I already have several IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets at home without soft-close functionality on the doors. Now I want to retrofit these doors with soft-close dampers and properly adjust them later, so they not only close gently but also do not bounce back or catch. Since IKEA does not offer soft-close doors as a standard option for Metod, I’m looking for advice on the following topics: - Which retrofit solutions are of good quality and compatible with Metod doors? - How can I professionally attach the soft-close dampers without damaging the doors or the carcass? - What should I consider when adjusting them, especially regarding closing speed and the gentle final stop? - Personal experiences with this retrofit would be very helpful, particularly concerning durability and ease of use. I appreciate any tips or tricks!

When adjusting, pay attention to the resistance of the damping spring, which is often adjustable.I can only agree with that. A small tip: If you notice that the door doesn’t close properly, reduce the damping a bit so it closes more easily. The damping is not a restriction, but an aid during closing.

A tip: Before installing on an old part or a replacement panel, first temporarily fix the damper with painter’s tape and test if the closing action is smooth. Thanks for the helpful tip, I will definitely try that to avoid unnecessary drilling.
I was also wondering if the position of the soft-close dampers varies for different door sizes in Metod. Do you need to choose different positions or larger dampers, or is the system largely the same for all doors?
Also: Is it possible that for larger doors additional door damping elements are needed at the bottom edge to prevent wobbling or uneven closing?
Looking forward to more advice!
