Hello,

maybe you can help me.

I would like to build a retaining wall for my terrace. I plan to build it using 17.5 formwork blocks. The wall will be reinforced horizontally with 6mm (0.24 inch) and vertically with 14mm (0.55 inch) reinforcing bars.

Attached is a sketch.

My question is whether my plan would work like this?

Thank you very much for your help!
Best regards

I have seen this idea in several construction projects before, but never at a height of 134cm (53 inches). That area is also under significant pressure.

We recently discussed the topic of retaining walls here; just search for it.

We built up to a height of 1.20 meters (4 feet) and filled it with concrete. So far, everything is still standing.

It would encourage more discussion if it were in image format. But as a basic survey, it is already too imprecise.

Until it collapses.
There is definitely a lack of anchoring into the opposing slope. Your reinforcements only prevent the wall from falling over as a whole.

It may have been about a year ago when I specifically wrote about this topic.

Until it collapses.
There is definitely a lack of anchoring into the slope that pushes against it. Your remarks result in nothing more than the wall eventually tipping over as a whole.

It hasn’t been that long yet.. I also wrote something about it back then, including the foundation so that it doesn’t collapse right away
