Hello everyone,

We have clay soil as the ground base. Our neighbors barely have any grass growing.
What depth in centimeters of topsoil is needed for a healthy lawn?

Thank you very much for your help!

Best regards

If we can manage that, we'll be happy!

Not anymore in this dry summer.

We sowed lupines to loosen the soil.

I wouldn’t start that this summer anymore. The clay soil needs to experience winter frost. Using field lupine is a somewhat good idea. Somewhat good because it really loosens the soil and adds nitrogen, but removing it later from the lawn is difficult. Even a glyphosate treatment before sowing often doesn’t eliminate lupine. Its roots grow deep.

... there are also annual lupines. These should be planted, as they also suppress weeds. Remove them later. Everything will be fine then.
They have not reappeared here.

Okay, I didn't know the annual plants.
