I have a question for the group regarding your dining area. How wide do you think the dining space should be (space between the wall/window and the kitchen counter)? We have planned 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) for the table, chairs, and a passageway to the garden. However, I’m not quite sure if that will be enough. In theory, I could gain about 30 cm (12 inches) more and adjust the kitchen layout accordingly.

Wouldn’t the table then be centered within the 3.5 meters (11.5 feet)?W

Opening the patio door when someone is comfortably seated at the table can get quite tight. With a 100cm (40 inch) table, you only have 125cm (50 inches) of space on each side between the table and the counter or wall.

Wugler19785 Feb 2020 19:21The table is to scale. I used the terrace door width as a reference with a tape measure.
The terrace door on the right will never be used since we have the sliding door next to it. We included it only for symmetry. Is 90 cm (35 inches) enough space between the table and the wall?

Should there also be chairs placed at this kitchen counter? With a kitchen island, you would have more space in the dining area, and the awkward corners of a U-shaped kitchen would be eliminated. However, 90 cm (35 inches) is not enough space for anyone to walk behind the chairs.
