Good evening everyone.

Has anyone here ever had to replace a windowpane?

We have a fixed glass panel of about 3 m² (32 sq ft) with triple glazing that cracked. The replacement is quoted at 1000€ (about $1100). I was pretty shocked since I think the window itself was cheaper…

Is this normal, or is it worth getting quotes from a few more companies?

Good luck

hmm... insurance companies are not stupid either! I would actually suspect that the OP tried to claim it through insurance, right? Then he could at least wait through the winter.

Don’t you have glass coverage included in your homeowner’s insurance? I specifically chose this additional module for the windows, but I’m sure there are policies that include this automatically.

It’s just a saving of around 30 € per year.
New houses have countless glass elements anyway.

That was too risky for me as well, with so many large windows.

Yes, at least in the building insurance I also found that reasonable; in the household contents insurance, however, we do not have that component included.

I also think two people working half a day each, plus logistics, materials, and a small job surcharge, is not completely unreasonable. I would still feel better with about 200€ (approximately 220 USD) less.

The advice regarding insurance fraud is inappropriate.

What happened to the window pane?

A glazed interior door was slammed shut in our home. The company came, took the door, glazed it, delivered it back, and sent the invoice. The glass insurance covered the nearly 500€ payment.

Yes... That thought crossed my mind, but I’m just too honest for that.
The reason we didn’t take out insurance has nothing to do with the 30 € but rather that I simply didn’t think about it...

Yes, the damage could be from electrical stress or it could have been one of the children... 50:50
