We have some quite old seals in our windows, some of which have become very brittle. Now my questions: Can I replace these seals myself? Where can I get such seals? Is there anything special I need to consider when replacing them?
Best regards, oobravo-1

I would first check with a specialized retailer because not all seals fit every window. Once you have removed the rubber gaskets, the new ones should fit perfectly; otherwise, drafts will come through, which you definitely want to avoid. It would be better to have a professional come and do this for you.

Hi,
you can easily do this yourself. Hardware stores sell all kinds of seals. Take a piece of the old seal with you so you can check if the same type is still available. Anything is better than brittle seals because with those, you end up heating the street instead of your apartment, as it should be.

Thank you for your replies. We have now handled it this way since it is ultimately the landlord’s responsibility to have them replaced. A professional came and completed the work properly. Now it is not pulling as much anymore.
