Hello,

we need to replace a small roof window.

Do you have any tips on where to buy windows that are both good quality and affordable? A few years ago, we had a window replaced here as well, but we had to use the store brand from a local home and garden retailer because it had to be done very quickly, and they were the only ones who responded and accepted the order :-/ This time, however, we don’t want to just take whatever is available; luckily, we have time now to be more selective.

I have no experience with roof windows so far (I used to dislike the attic). So if anyone has advice on what to pay attention to, I’m happy to listen :-)

My husband immediately mentioned Velux. Yes, they have advertised their roof window products extensively for quite some time... But surely, there are more affordable alternatives?

Best regards

Velux or Roto. They simply know how to do it. I would visit two or three carpenters and ask for a price. Karsten

Velux and Roto are the major and well-established manufacturers. In my opinion, Roto is technically a bit more advanced when it comes to the mechanics and installation—especially the connection to the insulation. They are not exactly cheap in terms of price 🙂

Domski insulation is not available here (yet) :-/ We won’t be able to do the roof for a few more years (as long as the main owner is alive, we are very limited).
