Hello everyone,
I want to replace an old (too small) radiator with a new one. The old radiator already had these S-shaped fittings attached:

Since I have added some padding to the heating niche, I was planning to use flexible hoses for the connection. However, I’m having some trouble finding the right adapters for the transition from the radiator’s 1/2 inch connection to the heating valve’s 3/4 inch euro cone.
Now I’m tempted to just reuse the old S-shaped fittings. I’m just a bit unsure if the metal ring will really provide a tight seal. Do I need to use sealing paste or something similar to ensure the euro cone connection is leak-proof?
Best regards

If it was sealed properly before, it will seal again. The paste is intended to prevent misalignment of the cone (cone paste such as Locherpaste or Neofermit) and is commonly used in practice for cone fittings.
I assume a radiator (ribbed radiator) is being replaced with a flat panel radiator, and for this purpose, so-called renovation radiators are offered. These have the same dimensions for the connections, so no adapter pieces are needed. This makes the conversion much easier. 🤗

Previously, there was also a panel radiator installed, but it was a bit too small for the room. The S-shaped fittings were connected to it.
Since I added some material to the niche, the original wall distance is no longer accurate. However, there is a misalignment anyway.
I’m not sure if any paste or similar product was used before.
I would assume it will be sealed properly again since it was installed like this before. I just don’t know if I need to do anything specific during installation, or if I can simply screw the unit on.
For tightening the connections on the radiator, I will use sealing tape.
