Micky_816327 Apr 2012 13:17Hello,
I would like to install a mirror into the BESTÅ TOMBO display cabinet door (60cm x 64cm) (24 inches x 25 inches). Has anyone done something like this before?
I thought I could simply replace the existing glass with a cut-to-size mirror. Unfortunately, the glass is not easily removable. You would need to find a way to dismantle the frame. To me, it looks like the frame cannot be taken apart easily.
Does anyone know how to remove the glass from the door frame and replace it with a mirror?
I don’t like the idea of placing a mirror behind the glass because it would be noticeable and would not look good.
One option could be to glue the mirror onto the glass, but I’m not sure if the hinges can support the extra weight. (You could also break the glass and glue the mirror directly onto the frame from the outside, but that would be a last resort if nothing else works.)
It would be great if someone could help me with this.
Best regards,
Michael

MichaelHello,
The strips of the aluminum frame are connected with brackets. These may only be clamped tightly. My approach would be to firmly secure the frame on the long sides, for example with clamps, and then place a chisel (or better something that won’t slip) at the end of the brackets and drive them out alternately left and right with a strong hammer strike.
