Hello forum community

I am Micha and I need some good advice.

I am currently renovating our bathroom.
Now I have made a very silly mistake.
I didn’t apply the top coat plaster far enough down.
Now I’m missing a strip next to the tiles.

I have already tried to plaster the missing strip afterward.
Of course, the result is poor.

At the joint, there is a strip without texture from the first layer of plaster.

Does anyone have a useful tip for me?

Regards, Micha

The solution to the problem depends on how I finish the plaster.

You could redo everything, add another row of tiles, or even wallpaper over it.

Isn't "Rotband" a type of gypsum-based smoothing plaster?
Our fine plaster has a very fine texture after troweling.

Rotband is a bonding plaster, as Peanuts already mentioned. It serves as the base layer for the textured plaster. I would do it exactly as he described: apply the base coat again and then put the textured plaster on top. Unless you have a bathroom with 50 sqm (540 sq ft), this should be a manageable effort. The alternative would be to constantly be frustrated about how it looks or to hope you get used to it.

I probably have no other option... everything needs to be redone.
Our plasters here are a bit different.
The base coat is a lime-cement plaster applied with a machine.
Then a very thin lime fine plaster is applied on top.
