Hello forum community

I am Micha and I need some good advice.

I am currently renovating our bathroom.
Now I have made a very silly mistake.
I didn’t apply the top coat plaster far enough down.
Now I’m missing a strip next to the tiles.

I have already tried to plaster the missing strip afterward.
Of course, the result is poor.

At the joint, there is a strip without texture from the first layer of plaster.

Does anyone have a useful tip for me?

Regards, Micha

This does involve quite a bit of work, but we had a similar issue where, after plastering, another groove had to be cut. With textured plaster, the plastered groove was still visible, and you can never fully blend it in.

In our case, the plasterer applied a thin layer (a few millimeters) of plaster (Rotband?) over the entire wall and then re-textured it completely. For about 10m² (108 ft²), the skilled plasterer took less than 2 hours, and it looks like new...

.....I actually wanted to avoid that.
The whole room would have to be redone.
That would drive my mason crazy.
What is red heat damage?

Just search for Rotband, not Rotbrand.

Why is your mason going crazy? Besides, I thought it was just the toilet – how big can the room be then??? Rotband is a bonding plaster; I don’t see any other option if you want to make sure nothing is visible afterward.

Just install a nice stainless steel tile trim as a finishing edge. The tiled area doesn’t have to be perfectly flush with the plastered wall.

What is Rotband?
