I am renting my apartment, and over the years, my PVC flooring has developed several deep scratches and damaged areas. It is especially bad around the desk, where I roll my chair back and forth. The flooring was installed in one continuous piece. When I move out, do I have to replace the entire floor covering, or is it technically possible to renew only certain sections? Are there any other methods to repair scratches on PVC floors?

Hello,
No, if the floor is made from a single piece, the landlord will insist on replacing the entire PVC flooring. I don’t like this type of floor either. It scratches easily and gets damaged quickly.

Hi Brunner,
Just imagine if the next tenant gets a floor full of patches. Nobody wants that, so the entire floor covering needs to be replaced.

Repairing a PVC floor in certain spots can be quite challenging. Small damaged areas can be fixed, but for extensive damage, it is advisable to replace the entire floor.

I recently came across something very interesting.

This device really works to remove scratches and signs of wear on PVC floor coverings. I used it to restore a retail space before handing it back to the landlord. I have to say, it’s really effective!
It is available from a flooring supplier in Herisau. I believe they only sell to professional contractors. You might want to contact a specialist who can get it for you or possibly take care of the job themselves.

The video is amazing. Thank you very much for sharing it. I need to check if I can get this material here. Anyway, it looks much easier in the video.
