minnifand23 Aug 2013 18:58Hello,
we have a prefabricated house from Streif Haus. It is now about 30 years old, and the plastic roller shutters are tearing. We have tried to get replacement shutters. Unfortunately, the slats of the old shutters are very flat, and the tracks are only about 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, so the newer slats available today – which are more curved – do not fit.
Does anyone have an idea how to repair the shutters?
It is not possible to install new tracks, as the tracks are firmly connected to the window.

Doc.Schnaggls27 Aug 2013 12:37Hello minifand,
just a thought:
In various specialized trucks (for example, fire engines), the bodywork is fitted with roller shutters.
These metal roller shutters (I suspect aluminum) are probably around 1 cm (0.4 inches) thick and are completely flat without any curvature.
Maybe such roller shutters could be an option for your house?
You might want to inquire with a custom vehicle manufacturer. (Ziegler, Metz, Empl...)
Good luck with your search!
Regards,
Dirk

Audifan3029 Oct 2013 06:24Hello,
there are different types of roller shutters. Your rails are 1.3 cm (0.5 inches) thick, and the new aluminum roller shutters, called "Panzer," come in various thicknesses in millimeters and are referred to as mini profiles. They fit perfectly in your installation. I work for a roller shutter manufacturer and have my own finished house, where I installed the profile with 8.9 mm (0.35 inches) thickness myself. It is important that it locks in place, otherwise it will move back and forth. Best regards
