Hello everyone,
I’m considering whether a repair kit for Kallax shelves is really worthwhile. The background is that I have several Kallax units in my apartment, which have developed some minor damage over the years—such as scratches on the corners, some damaged drill holes, or small cracks in the surface.
Now I’m wondering if it’s worth buying the repair kits from IKEA or third-party suppliers to improve the shelf’s appearance and function, or if the effort and cost outweigh the benefits.
Does anyone have experience with these repair kits? How well do they fix the damage? And do they significantly affect the shelf’s stability or appearance?
I look forward to your experiences and opinions!

The kit is practical, but you need to know exactly what you're doing. That's true, you are probably right. Is there a good guide or video tutorials on how to use the repair kits properly? I want to avoid accidentally making the shelf look worse.
Many manufacturers include instructions with their kits, sometimes in German, often very easy to understand. Additionally, there are numerous videos on YouTube that explain how to use the repair kits specifically for Kallax.
It is important to work with the material in a well-ventilated area and to carefully follow each step – for example, sanding, drying, and then finishing.
This is suitable for beginners if you take your time.

Hey everyone!!
I think repair kits for Kallax shelves are really great! 🙂 I tried one last year after a friend slightly damaged his shelf during a move. The result was excellent – the scratches are hardly noticeable anymore, and the shelf looks almost like new again!!
It really motivates you to give your furniture a second chance. Of course, it takes a bit of patience, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s fun, I can only recommend it!!

Good morning everyone,
I wanted to give an update since I have now ordered and tried out a repair kit.
The instructions were very clear, and sanding after drying really makes the result almost invisible, at least for smaller scratches and drill holes.
Only with a larger corner that had a significant chip can you still see slight differences. But overall, I’m satisfied—these repair kits are definitely worth it for a visual refresh.
Thanks for your tips and experiences!
