Hello everyone, I have a problem with the drawers of my Ikea Metod kitchen cabinet. The drawers can be opened and closed, but there is a very unpleasant, constant squeaking noise that has gradually gotten worse over time. Additionally, some drawers no longer operate as smoothly, which I suspect is due to the runners. I can only confirm the tip about silicone spray; it’s my favorite because it doesn’t damage the plastic parts and still provides good lubrication. One point I had to learn myself: after applying the spray, move the drawer gently several times so the lubricant spreads evenly. You can also check whether the tracks are still properly aligned — sometimes the mounting shifts due to stress.
If you feel confident, I also recommend lightly applying a small amount of household oil to the metal sliding surfaces, but be careful to avoid contact with the plastic, as it can become sticky.
And don’t worry, with a bit of care, you can usually get the drawers working properly again!
