Single-family house with two sections: one two-story and one single-story. There is a terrace with tiles on the concrete slab above the single-story part. The masonry consists of 38 cm (15 inches) Poroton bricks (red clay blocks).
About 1 meter (3 feet) below the concrete slab, a horizontal crack has formed, extending up to the interior plaster.
At first, I suspected that the crack was caused by upward movement (heaving) of the concrete slab. I applied several plaster patches, which have not cracked again for 4 weeks.
A neighbor claims to have cracks following a minor earthquake. I live in an area prone to such events.
Questions:
1. Is a 4-week observation period of the plaster patches sufficient to conclude that the cracks are no longer developing?
2. If so, how can the cracks be repaired? (e.g., injection mortar, epoxy resin injection)
3. What kind of companies offer these services?
Thank you all in advance.
