I have a solid oak shelf in my bathroom that is coated with clear lacquer. Unfortunately, the lacquer has worn off due to contact lens solution, leaving the affected area lighter than the rest of the shelf. I lightly sanded the spot and applied a synthetic resin clear lacquer, but the area did not darken again. Can someone tell me which type of lacquer will restore the wood’s darker color? Thank you.
