ᐅ Renovation of houses built in 1955 and 1975 – which hazardous materials should I expect?

Gille DHello,
I am going to renovate my childhood home, and since I have some previous experience, I prefer to be a bit more cautious.
The house details are: brick construction from the 1950s, exact year unknown, with an extension from 1975 made of Ytong.
Of course, there is no record of the materials used at that time, so my question is: what should I be paying attention to?
Respiratory protection and a protective suit are mandatory, for example, when removing fiberglass insulation.
Possible contamination from wood preservatives in the roof structure and other wooden components is another concern. What type of testing can be done for this? I would also appreciate recommendations for suitable service providers.
Regarding asbestos, I have read about parquet adhesives containing it. In which other materials should I expect asbestos?
What other hazards might there be?

MatzeDunien9 Mar 2021 15:38Hello,
in addition to insulation, asbestos may be present in wastewater pipes, roofing, or on the facade (fiber cement panels). I had all of these...
Even tile adhesive can contain asbestos.
I would recommend contacting the health department to find out where asbestos might still be hidden and where the nearest lab is.
Perhaps, after consulting with the lab, you can also send in samples. Hiring an expert who can take the samples would, of course, be best.
Please always follow safety precautions.
Best regards,
Mathias

The 1950s were already post-war, which suggests that a complete building file might still exist, and the architect responsible for the 1975 renovation may have also clarified some details about the original structure at that time.
