Okal houses still exist. In the area around Salzhemmendorf, there might also be several carpenters who worked or trained there during the old Okal house era. Around Paderborn as well, these houses are not uncommon, and the former Okal house style is, to say the least, easy to recognize. Therefore, you can often tell by looking at the houses whether it’s worth asking the owners. Take a look in residential areas from that period. The internet is a useful tool, but keeping your eyes open in real life also reveals a lot.
To summarize: my first point of contact would be the manufacturer itself; followed by companies where people familiar with the original production can be found; and finally, others who have gone through the same experience. For a house built around 1980, you won’t be the first person wanting to renovate it.
