I could use some support.
Slate slabs were laid by the neighbor for the doorstep and also along a short path. Some of these slabs are now loose, and I was asked if I could fix them.
I have attached some pictures of the situation.
I found silicone on the vertical slabs. This includes the large blob on the lower left in the second picture.
The loose step slab shows a very uneven substrate, and these uneven areas were full of sand.
My idea is to fill the voids on the walls with mortar and then fix the slabs in place again using tile adhesive suitable for natural stone.
For the area under the step slab, I would remove some of the current material and then apply tile adhesive here as well. At the front left corner, I would level the damaged spot with mortar. Or could this also be done with tile adhesive?
After that, I would tape the slabs off and fill the joints with grout.
Do you think this approach will work, or is there a better solution?
Thanks in advance to everyone.
