ThorbenFunk2 Jan 2025 09:27Hello everyone,
We recently purchased an older house and are in the process of renovating and refurbishing certain elements. One of the tasks was repainting the old wooden staircase. First, we removed the old wood stain as much as possible, then sanded the wood and repainted the staircase. The treads and risers were painted in different colors.
Unfortunately, the transition between the treads and risers did not turn out very well; there are quite noticeable edges and uneven areas. This is partly because the previous paint could not be fully removed. I have attached two example pictures for reference.
My question is how this transition could be better concealed. Initially, I thought that an acrylic sealant might work, but I have read in other posts that it might not be durable or robust enough and would require frequent reapplication.
Thank you and best regards,
Thorben
