Hello everyone,

Perhaps someone here can give me one or several good tips.

The canopy over our basement entrance is due for renewal or "renovation."

Current status: canopy with multiwall polycarbonate sheets mounted on longitudinal beams (80x80 mm (3x3 inches)) attached to the house wall with metal post anchors (joist hangers).
Current size about 4x2 m (rest see photos).

I would like to install new main beams into the post anchors (again 80x80 mm (3x3 inches), to reuse the anchors).
The new beams are planned to be about 3.60 m (11 ft 10 in) long > at the end, a 10x10 cm (4x4 inches) cross beam is planned, supported by three 10x10 cm (4x4 inches) support posts (see photo > H-anchors are already in place).
The roof width should be 5.40 m (17 ft 9 in) (one post anchor will be added on each left and right side). This is the plan for the support structure. For the 80x80 mm (3x3 inches), I would use rough-sawn structural timber (I couldn’t find planed beams in 80x80 mm (3x3 inches) at this length).

For the roofing, I would like to install trapezoidal metal sheets (6 sheets, each 1.05 x 3.65 m (3 ft 5 in x 12 ft)) (for support, short cross beams are to be placed between the longitudinal beams again).
Thus, the longitudinal beams rest on three points: 1. post anchor, 2. middle post, 3. 10x10 cm (4x4 inches) cross beam.

I know this is not a common construction method, but would it be considered structurally acceptable, or is it doomed to collapse? I would prefer to avoid installing a ledger board on the house wall due to the existing post anchors.

Do 80x80 mm (3x3 inches) longitudinal beams carry the load in the same way as 80x60 mm (3x2.5 inches) beams — or is there already a veto here?

I hope I haven’t forgotten anything so far...

I would appreciate any constructive feedback.

Many thanks and best regards
