We had a natural stone interior window sill removed because the kitchen countertop is supposed to extend into the gap.
Now the question is – how should we fill the gap? Expanding foam? Plaster?
It won’t be visible in the end since the 4cm (1.5 inch) countertop will cover it.

Construction foam eventually breaks down. It can be used for small cavities but is not recommended for full-surface application.
There is insulating plaster, which I use (Klimasan). If you need to bridge a height greater than 20mm (about 1 inch) and don’t want to work in multiple layers, you can add rigid foam board (XPS) on top. This can be applied using mounting adhesive.
