ᐅ Removing a sink – tile damaged?

Hello,

I have a question. In our house, the large bathroom currently has two sinks side by side. Since we don’t need one of the sinks, I would like to remove it.

The sink was installed there five years ago by a professional company.

My concern is this: If I remove the sink, there will probably be one or more holes in the tile (after all, the sink has to be securely fixed).

Unfortunately, we don’t have matching replacement tiles... Does anyone know how these sinks are usually mounted? Are there just a few small holes in the tile, or could the tile also be discolored, for example?

If major damage is to be expected (the tile behind covered in holes, strongly discolored tile, etc.), I would rather leave the sink in place. Although it bothers us, it still looks better than a completely damaged tile. However, I could cover up 1 or 2 small holes...

Looking forward to your reply.

You can see the screws if you lie underneath.

The joint between the sink and the tiles is sealed with gray grout. If you remove the sink, you will have to scrape the grout off the tiles. I wonder if it can be cleaned off well afterwards?

It is a silicone joint, not a gap. Silicone can usually be completely removed from the tiles.

We ended up with several holes because everyone thought carefully, but the client thought even better—and the pool had to be moved by another 10cm (4 inches). ;-)
But if necessary, it can always be reinstalled or decorative elements can be glued to the wall...
