Do-it-yourself – I hope I posted this in the right section!?:p
In my shower, the black mold left by the previous tenant has taken over. It has come off the tiles and grout, but not the silicone seal around the shower. It seems like the mold is actually inside the silicone. Now my question is: What’s the best way to get this stuff out of the sealant joint? The scraping method seems reasonable but probably won’t remove it completely. Does anyone have a good tip?

I have always had good results using the utility knife method; razor blades work well occasionally too, and if you are very lucky, you can peel off the silicone strip like a tape. For the rest, I recommend silicone remover from the hardware store. It’s affordable and very effective. 😀
Hello
I had the same problem as you, leeloo. I managed to remove the silicone perfectly using a utility knife. Of course, you might need to go over some spots again, but I simply used a cleaning sponge and it worked wonderfully to remove everything. Applied new silicone and it looks great again.
