Hello everyone,
the spacious Oppli TV stand is no longer available. We still have it in birch. When we move, we’d like to switch everything to a dark brown/black color. So far, we have all furniture pieces in this shade—except for the TV stand. The Oppli has always been great for storing all our equipment, so we’d like to keep this piece.
I was quite pleased to find a Swedish person on IKEA hack sites who “modded” and repainted their Oppli.
They used white and black spray paint (lacquer?). Has anyone ever done something like this? Is there a specific type or brand of paint recommended for this?
Thanks for any tips!
Best regards,
MM

Here is the author’s response, we will try that:
The black-brown top is painted with a semi-transparent black glazing paint called BEHANDLA, purchased from IKEA.
I’m not sure how many coats, but I think we applied three.
For the bottom half, we just used a glossy white spray paint; I don’t remember the brand.
But first, we used sandpaper to create a rough surface for the paint.
Good luck!
