Hello,
Is there a way to disconnect a cable connection that has been inactive for a very long time, so that it can no longer be used?
Besides the unsightly box outside the house, the move to an address without cable service (but with fiber optic) is also a factor...
Thanks!

I don’t quite follow: why does a connection at your soon-to-be former residence bother you?

It's not for me, asking for a friend 🙂
The box outside the house looks awkward, is far from tamper-proof, and if you want to take advantage of a special cable contract termination (because fiber optic is available and should be used at the new location), the connection is obstructive 🙂

The box outside on the house looks awkward, ... Connection points from the former network operator Deutsche Bundespost are so small that calling it a "box" is completely inaccurate; it is probably referring to a distribution cabinet (KVZ).

This would also be the first customer connection point (HÜP) where the installation of a new fiber optic connection is seriously hindered. 😕
If another provider installs a fiber optic connection, this does not create a special cancellation right for the cable connection.
Misunderstanding: The ground floor is already equipped (it really has everything: copper, cables, fiber optic), and the special termination applies in case of moving. However, if you move to a place where *no* cable connection is available, you can terminate the contract early with only a 3-month notice period. Otherwise, the cable subscription must be transferred to the new address – but if fiber optic is already available there, having both would be redundant...
